The system is easy to install using Group Policy Preferences. By using an EXE, you don't need to change the security requirements. There doesnt seem to be an option in scheduled tasks to perform this task when my computer shuts down. Such that I want to run a simple command line program I wrote in c everytime I shut down windows. You could configure the scheduled task to run the powershell script directly, but then you'd have to adjust the computer's Powershell security requirements. How do you schedule a task in Windows XP to run when you shutdown windows.

The EXE is created by compiling the Powershell script using PowerGUI. If the user click on that OK button, the script cancels the reboot operation. It then pops up a window with an OK button.

Here's a quick video demonstrating how it works:īasically the script first triggers a reboot operation using the built-in Windows 7 shutdown command. However, if a user was still working at 2 AM, we wanted to give them the opportunity to cancel the reboot and continue working. We did have it cause a problem though: if anything goes wrong, Win 7 will reboot and ask if you want to repair the installation. My company wanted to restart any logged in computers at 2 AM so that we could perform maintenance tasks (installing software, patches, etc). We do scheduled Windows Updates and antivirus scans on different nights for different departments prior to shutting them down. Add the SID in the GPO and it will work.NightlyRestart is a simple compiled Powershell script to make reboots of user computers less intrusive. I never left an open problem.I search, dig and ask, until it's solved. I tryed everything and doesn't work, when I double click it on desktop it works, but over task schedule doesn't. Robocopy C:\Users\%username%\Desktop z:\Users\%username%\Desktop /e /fft /w:1 /r:1 /ns /nc /nfl /ndl /np /copy:dt Runnnig program is batch file C:\Users\%username%\Desktop\copy.bat User which runs this job is NT AUTHORITY\System Now in task schedule on server I made a job. I have in windows 2008 AD - taks schedule over GPO for user to backup files from windows 7 client, to windows 2008 server.Įvery user have mapped disk Z: which is actually some folder on server 2008. I still have this problem and don't know how to solve it.
